Writing blog posts can be a very rewarding practice. But what happens when you end up with no idea as to what you are going to write about? It can be frustrating to find a great blog topic to share with the world, and it is also very difficult for some people the select a great blog title for their post.

I’m going to let you in on my secret…yes, I’m going to share with you exactly how I can almost always find a perfect blog title for my posts. The best thing about this little tip is that it is free and you may already be set up to do the same thing I do. I’m assuming that you are blogging with the intentions of generating free traffic to your blog via the search engines. Ideally to do this you need to have your blog submitted to Google’s Webmaster Tools and be capable of getting the reports provided for your blog.

Google’s Webmaster Tools reports lot of useful info for your websites. One of these nice reports shows the keywords that your site is making impressions for in the search results. I talking about situations where your site was returned in the search results, and the report may list that a specific keyword or keyword phrase appeared in a certain position for that query.

You may already be catching on to my secret, but if not then let’s explore this a little deeper. You will have access to keywords and in particular, keyword phrases that are appearing somewhere in the search results. For example, let’s pretend that the report shows that my blog has made impressions in the #100 position for the phrase – “Finding great blog titles”.If you examine that keyword phrase, then you will notice that it actually would make a great blog title. Even better, I know that keyword phrase is already ranking in Google and people must be searching for it in come capacity.

The next step would be to see how many active searches there are for that keyword phrase. I want to use the phrases that have people actually searching for them, so I would recommend that you go to Google’s Keyword Tool and look to see how many searches there are for that exact phrase. Now at this point, it is really up to you as to how much effort you may want to put in to capture a relatively small amount of searches if there is a small search volume associated with the phrase you select.

Remember this, any content you create that has keywords will help you rank for other variations of that keyword if you use the proper back-linking tactics. (More on that later)Google itself will provide you with awesome blog title ideas if you know where to look. Get your blog listed in Google’s webmaster tools and then look through the search query reports to find the keyword phrases that naturally make up a grammatically correct title. If you can’t find a decent looking phrase, then feel free to mix and match the variations there to get your title.

With this system, you will be writing blog posts that will be helping your sites SEO because you are adding content that is relevant to the keywords that you are already ranking for somewhere in Google’s search results.

Hope you find this post useful to you and please let me know if you need any help with understanding this concept.
Go out and apply this to your blogs and get that traffic!  Thanks, Kerry
